The Platinum Eagle is one of four options in the broader American Eagle Series from the United States Mint. Together, these four series represent the official bullion coins of the United States. The Gold Eagle and Silver Eagle debuted in 1986, followed just over a decade later by the Platinum Eagle in 1997. The Palladium Eagle joined the series in 2017, three decades after it launched. The Platinum Eagle maintains steady obverse and reverse designs in its BU Series, and is the only option that does not feature historic US coin designs. Silver.com carries 2021 1 oz Platinum American Eagles online for you to purchase with near-perfect certifications.

American Eagle bullion coins all feature a depiction of Lady Liberty on the obverse and the American bald eagle on the reverse. The images of Liberty on the gold, silver, and palladium coins come from the early-20th century when the US Mint was revitalizing its major circulation coins. In order, these coins feature Lady Liberty by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, Walking Liberty from Adolph A. Weinman, and Winged Liberty, also from Weinman. The Platinum Eagle is the only one with a modern depiction. Its Statue of Liberty design was created for this series in 1997 by John Mercanti.
All of these 2021 1 oz Platinum American Eagles come with a Mint State 69 certification from the PCGS. Coins in this condition have full, original mint luster and no more than two minor detracting flaws. To qualify for the MS69 grade, the coins can have no more than two minuscule contact marks or hairlines that must be located outside the primary focal points of the coin. The included First Strike label indicates a coin that was received for grading within 30 days of its release from the US Mint.
On the obverse of 2021 Platinum American Eagles is a depiction of the Statue of Liberty. Designed for this series by John Mercanti, the former Chief Engraver of the United States Mint (2006-2010), it focuses in on the face of Liberty as her stoic gaze looks out over the Atlantic Ocean.
The reverse side of 2021 1 oz Platinum Eagles comes with the image of a bald eagle. In this design, the bald eagle is gliding effortlessly through the air as its wings are stretched out to the widest point and the sun rises over the horizon in the background.
