After a half-century of offering only a gold bullion coin, the South African Mint introduced its first silver bullion coin in the Krugerrand Series in 2017. Initially released to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Gold Krugerrands, the Silver Krugerrand proved so popular that the South African Mint and Rand Refinery continues to issue the coins to this day to ensure silver buyers have an option in the series. Right now, 2021 1 oz Proof Silver South African Krugerrands are available to purchase online at Silver.com.

The Gold Krugerrand debuted in 1967 with a 1 oz gold coin, the only option available until the 1980s when fractional-ounce gold coins were introduced. In 2017, silver and platinum versions of the coin were introduced. The Silver Krugerrand remains popular to this day and has a significant difference noticeable in its issue compared to the gold coins. While both are legal tender in South Africa, only the Silver Krugerrands have an assigned face value noted on the coin. Each one has a face value of 1 Rand.

The obverse side of 2021 Proof Silver South African Krugerrands features a portrait of Paul Kruger. Mr. Kruger, better known as Oom Paul in Afrikaans, or Uncle Paul, was the first man elected as president of a South African state. He led the South African Republic of the late-19th century, a precursor to the modern Republic of South Africa. His left-profile portrait on these coins is a modern version of a design first used in the 1890s on Gold South African Pounds.

On the reverse field of 2021 1 oz Proof Silver Krugerrands is a depiction of the Springbok antelope. This particular species of antelope is unique to the southern regions of the African continent is known for leaping high into the air. The Springbok will use a series of jumps to gain increasingly greater clearance of the ground as it moves along the landscape.

We use a live, up-to-the-second spot price feed supplied by Xignite.com, a worldwide leader in the data supply market.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
