The Australian silver coins from the Perth Mint have a rich history that dates back to 1990. For the first silver bullion coin release, the Perth Mint focused on the well-known kookaburra. Each date mark in that series has a new design of the famous bird from the Outback. In the decades since 1990, Perth has added the koala, wedge tail eagle, kangaroo, and emu to the collection.

In 2020, the latest native animal to join the series arrived with the quokka. A small marsupial related to kangaroos and wallabies, the quokka predominantly lives on one of two islands off the coast of Western Australia. So far, the Silver Quokka has two date marks and each one has delivered a different design.

Queen Elizabeth II is found on the obverse side of 2021 1 oz Silver Australian Quokka Coins. In this design, Elizabeth II is featured in right-profile relief with the George IV State Diadem Crown on her head. Jody Clark created this portrait for the Royal Mint in 2015 and it debuted on Australian coins from the Perth Mint in 2018.

A small quokka family is featured in the reverse design of the 2021 Silver Australian Quokka Coins. Set amongst the natural foliage of Rottnest Island, there is an adult quokka shown with its young joey at its side. This side of the coin also features a new security element that consists of a small letter micro-laser engraved on this field. You cannot see the letter without the aid of magnification.

These 2021 1 oz Silver Australian Quokka Coins are available individually or in bulk. Individual coins ship in acrylic capsules, multiples of 20 in rolls, and boxes of 100 coins. The box holds a total of five rolls of 20 coins. The Perth Mint issued 30,000 coins in total, but only 15,000 are available to buyers outside Australia.
