The United States dollar is the official currency of the United States, its five overseas territories, and eight sovereign nations around the globe. Two Caribbean territories of the United Kingdom also use the US dollar: the British Turks & Caicos Islands and the British Virgin Islands. The latter honors the centennial of the last Morgan Dollar and first Peace Dollar in 2021 with a commemorative coin design courtesy of the Pobjoy Mint. Now, 2021 1 oz Silver British Virgin Islands Morgan and Peace Dollar Coins are available to you for purchase online at Silver.com.

  • Consists of One Troy ounce of .999 fine silver.

  • The obverse depicts Queen Elizabeth II.
  • On the reverse are two images of Lady Liberty.

In 1878, the United States Mint resumed silver dollar coining after a five-year hiatus with a brand-new design. Created by George T. Morgan, the primary vision was a right-profile bust of Liberty in keeping with typical Liberty visuals of the era. These coins were issued annually until 1904.

In 1921, the US Mint once again resumed silver dollar coining, and once again the Morgan Dollar was in production. However, this was done as a stop-gap measure while the US Mint came up with a new, 20th-century vision of Liberty for the coins. In December 1921, the Peace Dollar went into production and replaced the Morgan Dollar visual.

The obverse of these 2021 1 oz Silver BVI Morgan and Peace Dollar Coins comes with a depiction of Queen Elizabeth II in right-profile relief. The British Virgin Islands is a British Overseas Territory, but uses the US dollar as its official currency of exchange. The Queen’s portrait on this side includes the George IV State Diadem. The Queen, the background, and the inscriptions around the edge of the field all have a 24-karat gold layering.

On the reverse side of 2021 Silver British Virgin Islands Morgan and Peace Dollar Coins boasts the two effigies of Liberty from 1921. George T. Morgan’s vision of Lady Liberty is in the foreground, while Anthony de Francisci’s Liberty from the Peace Dollar is in the background. Both images of Liberty, the background field, and the inscriptions around the design element have 24-karat gold plating.

These 2021 1 oz Silver British Virgin Islands Morgan and Peace Dollar Coins are available with 24-karat gold plating on the aforementioned regions. Each one is individually housed in a red display box from the Pobjoy Mint.
