When it comes to buying silver, investors and collectors can turn to annual collections for trusted options such as Brilliant Uncirculated and Proof coins. Often, these same silver buyers can find alternative versions of both coins. These options include items such as reverse proof coins, colorized BU coins, and even gilded BU coins. Today, 2021 1 oz Silver Canadian Maple Leafs are available to you online at Silver.com with a gilded finish.

Coin Highlights:

  • Available to ship to you in protective plastic capsules!
  • 34th issue of the Silver Canadian Silver Maple Leafs!
  • Availability of gilded coins is limited!
  • Consists of One Troy ounce of .9999 fine silver in BU condition.
  • The face value of $5 (CAD) is fully backed by the Canadian government.
  • On the obverse side of the coin is Queen Elizabeth II.
  • The reverse field features the sugar maple leaf.
  • 24-karat gold application on the maple leaf design.

The application of a thin layer of 24-karat gold to these coins does not drastically alter the precious metal value of the coin. Instead, the purpose of a gilded application is much the same as the application of colorized lacquers. The idea is to help create unique visual contrast between the primary design element and the background field. In the case of these coins, the application is limited to the primary design element on the reverse field of the coin, with no gilded application on the obverse.

All of these 2021 1 oz Silver Canadian Maple Leafs come with a protective plastic capsule. The coins are housed individually in these capsules, with each coin available to you in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are standard BU issues from the Royal Canadian Mint that have had the gilded layer applied by Emporium-Hamburg, an authorized third-party dealer of bullion coins.

On the obverse of 2021 Silver Canadian Maple Leafs is the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is shown here in right-profile relief in a design created in 2003 by Susanna Blunt. This effigy of the Queen was created as the fourth-generation design during her reign and is just the second from a Canadian artist. It is also the first during the reign of Elizabeth II to lack a crown on the Queen’s head.

The reverse face of the 2021 1 oz Silver Canadian Maple Leaf offers the view of a sugar maple leaf. This design debuted in 1979 on the first Gold Maple Leafs issued by the mint and was created by Walter Ott. The sugar maple leaf is the only element of the design with the application of gold.
