The Donald Duck coin is the latest release in a series of shaped, colorized Disney coins with images of characters from the Sensational Six. The Sensational Six is the name for Walt Disney’s core group of characters that date back to the 1920s and 1930s. Alongside Donald Duck, the other characters from the Sensational Six include Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck, Goofy, and Mickey’s pet dog, Pluto.

The obverse side of the 2021 Silver Niue Disney Donald Duck Shaped Coins features a depiction of Queen Elizabeth II in right-profile relief. This design was created in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley and features the Queen with the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara on her head. This design debuted on British coins in 1998 and was discontinued in 2015.

On the reverse face of 2021 1 oz Silver Disney Donald Duck Shaped Coins is a colorized image of Donald Duck. Debuting in print in 1931 and in an animated series in 1934, Donald Duck is shown here in his most recent depiction. His white body and yellow bill remain the same, as does his blue sailor’s coat and hat.
