Within the history of the Walt Disney universe, there are six main characters whose appearances in Disney media date back to the beginning of Walt’s empire. Among them, Pluto is one of a group known as the Sensational Six, the original primary characters from Walt Disney animated shorts and films. Now, 2021 1 oz Silver Niue Disney Pluto Shaped Coins are available to you for purchase online from Silver.com.

  • Mintage limited to 10,000 coins only!

  • Issued a face value of Two Dollars by Niue.
  • The obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
  • On the reverse is a colorized depiction of Pluto, the pet dog of Mickey Mouse.

Mickey Mouse made his debut for Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks in 1928 in two animated shorts. His pet dog Pluto made his first appearance alongside Mickey two years later. In 1930, The Chain Gang was released and featured Pluto as a bloodhound dog. Over the course of time, his appearance settled on that of a mixed-breed dog that has yellow-orange fur and long, black ears.

A member of the Sensational Six, Pluto is the only one that has no anthropomorphic features. While Pluto, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, and Goofy are all non-human animals, the latter five act like humans by talking and emoting in a similar manner. Pluto, however, remains animal in nature and only has a few facial expressions that hint at human-like features.

The obverse of 2021 1 oz Silver Niue Disney Pluto Shaped Coins comes with a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Designed in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley, this right-profile relief shows the Queen wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara.

On the reverse side of 2021 Silver Niue Disney Pluto Shaped Coins is a depiction of Pluto. The pet dog to Mickey Mouse, Pluto’s appearances in Walt Disney animated shorts and films rely on physical humor to tell the story.

These 2021 1 oz Silver Niue Disney Pluto Shaped Coins are available with custom-designed cases that are molded to Pluto’s shape. The coin and case ship in a themed box with a Certificate of Authenticity included. Each 1 oz silver coin comes with a unique serial number noted within the packaging.
