Silver Somalia Elephants might offer collectors the most diverse collection of unique BU coins with various finishes. The Bavarian State Mint issues the coins initially, but it is Emporium-Hamburg that applies these varying finishes in low-mintage sets. These finishes include a 24-karat gold known as a gilded specimen. Colorized options include an individual colorized coin and a day-night two-coin set with alternating daytime and nighttime colorizations. These Black-and-White Sets are the most unique.
The 2021 1 oz Silver Somalia Elephant Black and White Two-Coin Sets feature a thin application of ruthenium, a metal from the Platinum Group Metals, on each coin’s reverse surface. The other coin features a thin layer of ruthenium throughout the entire background field with only the tusks given the same application on the body of the elephant.

The Somali coat of arms is supported by two leopards, one on either side of a crowned shield. The crowned shield features a background of horizontal lines with a single star set at the center of the design.
