The Bavarian State Mint is the mint of origin for the African Wildlife Series. The silver for sale in this series now features Silver Leopard coins for Somalia as of 2018, with those coins offered in BU, colorized, and burnished options. However, it is the Silver Elephant that has been available in this collection for the longest period of time.

Introduced in 1999 as the Zambia Elephant, the Silver African Wildlife Series coins were available as such until 2003. In 2004, the Silver Elephant was shifted to the nation of Somalia. It continued using new images on the reverse face each year with 2016 and 2017 bringing some of the greatest changes to the series. In 2016, the series enhanced the purity of the coins from .999 silver to .9999 silver. In 2017, more weights were added to include 1/10 oz, 1/4 oz, 1/2 oz, 2 oz, 5 oz, and 10 oz silver.

The obverse field of 2021 10 oz Silver Somalia Elephants includes a design of the Somali coat of arms. This national emblem for the Somali Republic features a crowned shield with a star at its center that overlays a field of horizontal lines. The shield is supported by leopards with spears and fern leaves crossed below. You will notice a ribbon banner draped over the spears in this design.

On the reverse face of the 2021 Silver Somalia Elephants comes with an image of the African bush elephant. The elephant shown here is marching forward on the savannah as a small bird flies above its head in the background. There are some leaves hanging overhead that offer respite from the heat of the savannah by providing shade. The elephant dominates much of the design element, with its long tusks and trunk visible. This particular elephant has fluffed its ears out to its side to make it appear even larger and more imposing.

These 2021 10 oz Silver Somalia Elephant Coins are available to purchase with individual plastic capsules and each coin is available to you in Brilliant Uncirculated condition from the mint.
