In 2021, several mints noted the centennial of the last Silver Morgan Dollar and the first Silver Peace Dollar in the United States. Outside of the United States Mint, the Pobjoy Mint was one of the biggest issuers of centennial coins marking this event. The coins are issued on behalf of the British Virgin Islands, a British Overseas Territory that uses the United States dollar as its official currency of exchange. Today, 2021 2 oz Silver British Virgin Islands Morgan and Peace Dollar Coins are available to you online at Silver.com with ultra-high-relief visuals.

Coin Highlights:

  • Available to you in plastic capsules and black display boxes with an included Certificate of Authenticity!
  • Impressive high-relief visuals!
  • Includes the Liberty images from the Morgan and Peace Dollars!
  • Mintage limited to 650 coins only!
  • Consists of Two Troy ounces of .999 fine silver.
  • The face value of $10 is fully backed by the British Virgin Islands.
  • On the obverse is a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
  • The reverse showcases the Morgan Dollar Liberty and Peace Dollar Liberty visuals.

In 1921, the United States Mint resumed coining silver dollars for the first time since 1904. When silver dollar coining started in January, the historic Morgan Dollar design had been revived and issued. A stunning total of nearly 44 million coins were struck between January and mid-December 1921. On December 28, 1921, the US Mint started production of silver dollars with the new Peace Dollar Liberty design and would go on to strike just over 1 million of the coins before year’s end.

All of these 2021 2 oz Silver British Virgin Islands Morgan and Peace Dollar Coins are available with a plastic capsule to protect the coin and a black presentation box from the Pobjoy Mint to house the coins. There is a Certificate of Authenticity available with each coin. These coins also have an ultra-high-relief strike with greater visual depth in the background and improved 3D relief on the design strikes.

On the obverse of 2021 Silver BVI Morgan and Peace Dollar Coins is a depiction of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is shown here in a design exclusive to the Pobjoy Mint that shows Her Majesty in right-profile relief with her shoulders included in the design relief. The design also features the George IV State Diadem.

The reverse field of the 2021 2 oz Silver Morgan and Peace Dollar Coin comes with the Liberty portraits from both the Silver Morgan Dollar and the Silver Peace Dollar. Both effigies are left-profile reliefs with the Morgan Dollar design from 1878 in the foreground and the Peace Dollar design from 1921 in the background.
