The Great White Shark was popularized in the modern imagination by Peter Benchley’s novel Jaws and the subsequent film adaptation by Steven Spielberg. The feature film turned the creature into an overnight, terrifying sensation that had people thinking twice about getting in the water. Although humans are not natural or preferred prey for the Great White, it is still responsible for the highest reported number of fatal attacks by sharks on humans.

The obverse side of 2021 Silver Solomon Islands Ocean Predators Series Coins includes a right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Designed by Ian Rank-Broadley in 1998, this popular effigy of the Queen debuted on British coins and was later used by nations throughout the Commonwealth. In the design, the Queen is depicted wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara.

On the reverse field of 2021 2 oz Silver Ocean Predators Series Great White Shark Shaped Coins is a depiction of the Great White launching itself out of the water. The shark commonly feeds on seals and other marine mammals, in some cases leaping out of the water to snatch its prey in its mighty jaws. The shark emerges from the water in a bump-out section of the coin.

The coins in this new series are individually serialized. On the obverse field, you will find that bump-out space occupied by a serial number that is listed between 0001 and 1500.
