St. Helena is a small, remote volcanic island in the tropical belt of the Atlantic Ocean. It belongs to the United Kingdom as part of the British Overseas Territory of St. Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha. Though the island has proven important for various reasons throughout human history, it is perhaps best known as the island on which Emperor Napoleon of France was exiled after his defeat at the hands of the British in Europe.
All of the 2021 250 Gram Silver St. Helena Rectangular East India Company Coins available to you for purchase in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The coins are housed individually inside of plastic sleeves. Multiples of 12 coins are housed inside of boxes with sleeves for each individual coin. Obverse design elements on the 2021 Silver St. Helena Rectangular East India Company Coins include a locket design element with a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II in right-profile relief. This design is based on the Raphael Maklouf portrait of the Queen from 1985. This design was the third-generation British portrait and was used on British coins from 1985 to 1997. The portrait includes a depiction of the Queen with the George IV State Diadem Crown.
Reverse features of the 2021 250 Gram Silver St. Helena Rectangular East India Company Coins include an image of a sailing vessel owned by the East India Company. The East India Company was established by Royal Charter by Queen Elizabeth I in 1600 and grew to become a force more powerful than the British Empire itself. In fact, by 1803, the East India Company had at its disposal a private army of nearly 260,000 soldiers, twice that of the British Army at the time.
