One of the most famous moments from early American history was the surprise attack and victory of the Continental Army in Trenton, New Jersey. Under the cover of darkness, snow, and frigid temperatures, General George Washington led 2,400 Continental Army troops across an ice-choked Delaware River from Pennsylvania to Trenton to launch an attack on Hessian mercenaries serving the British Army. Right now, 2021 George Washington Quarter Sets are available to purchase online at Silver.com with gold-plated visuals.

  • The obverse features President George Washington’s portrait.
  • On the reverse side is General Washington leading his forces across the Delaware River.

Each 2021 George Washington Quarter Set available here comes with a plastic bag housing the coins of the set. The set comes with a Certificate of Authenticity and each coin is plated with a thin layer of 24-karat gold for enhanced beauty. These are US Mint legal tender circulation quarters that have been enhanced with the 24-karat gold layer by a private mint. Each coin is a 2021-dated quarter with the new reverse design.

The US Mint now offers a new reverse design for 2021-dated quarters. The new reverse introduces an artistic rendering of General Washington leading his Continental forces across the Delaware River to attack the Hessians at Trenton, New Jersey. 2021 marks the 245th anniversary of this critical attack in the first year of the Revolutionary War.

The obverse side of each 2021 George Washington Quarter comes with a depiction of President Washington in left-profile relief. Based on a 1786 bust of Washington, this design was created in 1932 for American quarters to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Washington’s birth.

On the reverse of the 2021 George Washington Quarters is the artistic visual showing Washington as he leads his forces across the Delaware River. The surprise attack occurred on the morning after Christmas Day as the Hessian mercenaries stationed in Trenton were caught off guard after a night of revelry. While the Hessians celebrated, the Continental Army worked all night to cross the frozen Delaware and then marched through the morning cold and mist to attack Trenton.
