The Silver American Eagles have been struck by the United States Mint as a BU specimen every year since 1986 when the collection launched. The coins were first issued by the San Francisco Mint, followed by a short stint at the Philadelphia Mint. Since 2001, the West Point Mint has had the primary responsibility for striking the coins. When demand exceeds supply, assistance is required by the two previous mint facilities to strike the coins. Today, 2021 (P) 1 oz Silver American Eagles in near-perfect condition are available to you online at Silver.com.

In 2011, with the Great Recession sending silver prices soaring and demand for the Silver Eagle climbing along with it, the US Mint enlisted the San Francisco Mint to provide supplemental coining of BU Silver Eagles alongside the West Point Mint. That was the first time since 1998 that the San Francisco Mint issued the coins. In 2020, the Philadelphia Mint issued BU Silver Eagles for the first time in 20 years as a result of surging demand amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. These emergency issues were produced alongside coins from the West Point Mint and San Francisco Mint.
All of the 2021 (P) 1 oz Silver American Eagles are available in near-perfect condition. Mint State 69 coins have full, original mint luster with a maximum of two minor detracting flaws. Those flaws are limited in nature to minuscule contact marks or hairlines and limited in scope to the areas outside the primary focal points of the coin. Early Release coins are those received by the NGC for grading within 30 days of the US Mint’s initial release.
On the obverse side of 2021 (P) Silver American Eagles, you will find the Walking Liberty design. This image was created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman for the US Mint to consider in replacing the Barber Coinage designs. The image features Liberty walking toward the sun with her right hand outstretched and her left hand carrying branches of oak and laurel. The American flag is draped around her figure.
The reverse field of the 2021 (P) 1 oz Silver Eagle features the heraldic eagle of the United States. Gracing the coins for the final time, the heraldic eagle shows a bald eagle supporting the US national shield as it clutches the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace.
