Millions of Silver American Eagles are produced by the United States Mint each year to satisfy the demand of investors in the United States and around the globe. The world’s best-selling silver coin, sometimes demand for the Silver Eagle surpasses the capacity of the West Point Mint. When required, the San Francisco Mint provides supplemental coining capacity to help meet demand. Each 2021 (S) 1 oz Silver American Eagle listed here at Silver.com comes with a Mint State 69 certification from the PCGS. Considered a near-perfect coin, each one exhibits full, original mint luster and bears no more than two minor detracting flaws. Examples of acceptable flaws include minuscule contact marks or hairlines that are found outside of the primary focal points of the coin.
These 2021 (S) Silver Eagles were produced by the US Mint at the San Francisco branch facility. However, the US Mint does not issue mint marks on its BU Silver Eagles. Whether the coins are issued at San Francisco or West Point, the US Mint wants all coins to have a uniform appearance. The coins can be distinguished upon receipt by dealers and grading houses based on the straps and serial numbers on the Monster Boxes the US Mint ships the coins in.
The obverse face of 2021 (S) Silver American Eagles features the historic Walking Liberty effigy. This left-profile image of Liberty depicts her figure walking toward the sun on the horizon with her right hand reaching out for its light as her left hand carries the branches of oak and laurel.
On the reverse side of the 2021 (S) 1 oz Silver Eagle is an image of the heraldic eagle. This version of the national emblem was modernized in 1986 for this series by John Mercanti. It is distinguishable for older versions by the triangular shape of the cluster of 13 stars above the eagle.
This is the final date mark in the Silver American Eagle Series to feature the heraldic eagle. By mid-2021, new 2021-dated coins will debut with an all-new bald eagle design. Don’t miss this chance to own the last 2021 (S) Silver Eagles with the heraldic eagle design!
