  • Consists of 500 Troy ounces of .999 fine silver in BU condition.

  • The obverse depicts Walking Liberty.
  • On the reverse is the heraldic eagle design, issued one last time in 2021.

In 1986, the US Mint introduced the Silver American Eagle and Gold American Eagle bullion coins to investors and collectors. Since that time, Walking Liberty has featured on the obverse based on Adolph A. Weinman’s original 1916 design. The reverse field features John Mercanti’s updated version of the heraldic eagle.

The heraldic eagle of the United States was first developed for the US Mint in 1794 by Robert Scot, the 1st Chief Engraver of the United States Mint. Mercanti, the 12th Chief Engraver of the US Mint, modernized this design for the Silver Eagle and it’s been in use since then. Early 2021 releases like these will continue to use the original designs, but by mid-2021, the new image of an American bald eagle in flight will take over on the reverse face of the coins.

The obverse of 2021 (S) Silver American Eagles comes with a depiction of Walking Liberty. This left-profile figure of Liberty was created in 1916 for the US Mint by Adolph A. Weinman and featured on the US half dollar until 1947.

On the reverse side of the 2021 Silver American Eagle is the heraldic eagle of the United States. The design showcases a bald eagle with the US national shield on its chest, the arrows of war in one talon, and the olive branch of peace in the other.

These 2021 (S) Silver American Eagle Monster Boxes contain a total of 500 individual 2021 Silver Eagles. The coins are packaged inside of 25 individual 20-coin tubes. This Monster Box of coins is identifiable as a San Francisco Mint product through the serial number on the box and the strap securing the box. None of the coins have an “S” mint mark. The San Francisco Mint has provided supplemental coining assistance to the West Point Mint when demand for the Silver Eagle requires it.
