Proof Gold Eagles from the United States Mint are the finest collectible gold coins the mint issues each year. Like other coins in the gold series in 2021, Proof Gold American Eagles were issued in two versions. The coins struck and released in the first half of the year featured the original design combinations, known in 2021 as Type 1s, while those coins issued after July 2021 bore the new reverse design element, known in 2021 as Type 2s. Right now, 2021-W 1/4 oz Proof Gold American Eagle Type 2 Coins in perfect condition are available to purchase online at Silver.com.

Each 2021-W 1/4 oz Proof Gold American Eagle Type 2 Coin available here comes with a perfect certification from the NGC. Coins in PF70 condition exhibit full, original mint luster and have no detracting flaws of any kind. The included UCAM designation refers to the presence of ultra-cameo-proof visuals. This means the coins have strong, frosted design elements with deeply-mirrored, clear fields. Early Release coins are those received by the NGC for certification within 30 days of release from the mint.

The Proof Gold Eagle has been available since1986. The coins in the proof range were introduced in different phases, unlike the BU Gold Eagle which debuted in 1986 with all four weights. The Proof Gold Eagle started with a 1 oz gold coin in 1986, added a 1/2 oz gold coin in 1987, and rounded out the collection with the 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz gold coins in 1988.

The obverse of all 2021-W Proof Gold Eagle Type 2 Coins comes with the historic image of Lady Liberty. In this design, the full-length figure of Liberty is shown in front-facing relief as she walks toward you with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left.

On the reverse side of 2021-W 1/4 oz Proof Gold American Eagle Type 2 Coins is the new bald eagle design from Jennie Norris. Chosen from more than 30 other possible designs to be the new face of the Gold Eagle Series. It depicts a bald eagle head in left-profile relief with incredible detail.
