When the United States Mint introduced the Proof Gold Eagles in 1986, the coin was only available in the 1 oz gold weight. That was in contrast to the four weights all being available from the beginning in the Brilliant Uncirculated version. The introduction of the Proof Gold Eagle fractional-ounce coins took place over the next two years in 1987 and 1988.

The 1/2 oz gold coin came first in 1987, followed by the 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz gold coins in 1988. The 1 oz gold coin has been issued by the West Point Mint with a “W” mint mark since 1986. The fractional-ounce coins, however, were first struck at the Philadelphia Mint with a “P” mint mark from 1987 to 1993. Starting in 1994, all four coins were housed at the West Point Mint and all issued with a “W” mint mark.

The obverse of 2021-W 1/4 oz Proof Gold American Eagles comes with the iconic image of Lady Liberty. Designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens in 1907, the front-facing depiction of Liberty first featured on the Gold $20 Double Eagle until 1933. In the design, Liberty is shown walking toward the viewer with the sun at her back, a torch in her right hand, and an olive branch in her left.

On the reverse side of the 2021-W Proof Gold Eagles is a depiction of bald eagles. The American bald eagles shown here were designed by Miley Busiek and this is the final year in which the design will appear. The 2021 release will feature two versions of the coin. These coins have the original Liberty-Bald Eagle Family design, while mid-2021 releases will have Liberty with the new bald eagle design.

These 2021-W 1/4 oz Proof Gold American Eagles are available with a perfect certification. The PR70 grade is for coins that showcase full, original mint luster with no detracting flaws. The coins listed here also have DCAM and First Strike designations. The former refers to the strong, frosted designs and the deeply-mirrored, clear fields. The latter indicates the coins were received for grading within 30 days of release.

Where does your spot price come from?

We use a live, up-to-the-second spot price feed supplied by Xignite.com, a worldwide leader in the data supply market.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
