Each 2021-W 1/4 oz Proof Gold American Eagle listed here at Silver.com comes in perfect condition. The PR70 grade is reserved for coins that exhibit full, original mint luster and have no detracting flaws of any kind present on the design strikes or fields of the coin. The deep-cameo designation is applicable only to proof coins that have stellar visual contrast. DCAM indicates a coin that presents strong, frosted design elements overlaying deeply-mirrored, clear background fields.

The 1/4 oz Proof Gold Eagle is one of the lowest-minted coins in this series. Its record mintage from 1988, a total of 98,028 gold coins, is the lowest of the record mintages among the four coins. In fact, it is often either the 1/4 oz or 1/2 oz gold coin that comes with the lowest mintage mark in the series each year.

The obverse of 2021-W Proof Gold American Eagles comes with a depiction of Lady Liberty. This is no ordinary design of Liberty though. It is considered by many to be the greatest American coin design of not only the 20th century, but in all of American coining history. The design shows Liberty in front-facing relief with her figure framed by rays of sunshine on the horizon behind her. The design field is encircled by 50 stars. Augustus Saint-Gaudens created this design for the US Mint in 1907.

On the reverse field of the 2021-W 1/4 oz Proof Gold Eagle is the image of a family of bald eagles as created by Miley Busiek. Designed in 1986 exclusively for this series, the image of bald eagles includes a male eagle in flight with a female eagle perched in the nest alongside a hatchling.
