Introduced in 2006, the Burnished Gold Eagle is the third version of the Gold American Eagle. One of two collectible versions of the coin, the Burnished Gold Eagle offers its own brilliant visuals when compared to the BU and Proof coins in the series. In 2021, only one version of the Burnished Gold Eagle was offered by the United States Mint. Now, 2021-W 1 oz Burnished Gold American Eagles are available to you for purchase online from Silver.com.

In 2006, the United States Mint introduced the Burnished Gold American Eagle. The third version of the Gold Eagle available behind the BU and Proof coins, the Burnished coin comes with matte fields. The coins are produced by first preparing the gold blanks in a drum with a polished medium.

Each blank is removed by gloved hands to be placed in the coining press. The gold blanks are then struck just once in the press and removed by hand for immediate packaging. The 2021 Burnished Gold Eagle Type 2 Coin is the only version of the Burnished Gold Eagle available in 2021. The United States Mint did not issue a Type 1 version of the Burnished Gold Eagle.

The obverse of the 2021-W Burnished Gold Eagle Type 2 Coin features Lady Liberty. In this 1907 design from Augustus Saint-Gaudens, Liberty is set in front-facing relief with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left as she strides forward with sun rays at her back. There are stars around the entire design field with the U.S. Capitol Building at her feet.

On the reverse side of 2021-W 1 oz Burnished Gold Eagle Type 2 Coins is an image of the American bald eagle. Designed in 2020 by Jennie Norris, this image shows the head of the bald eagle in left-profile relief.

These 2021-W 1 oz Burnished Gold American Eagle Type 2 Coins are available with protective plastic capsules. The coin and capsule are offered in a presentation box with a Certificate of Authenticity from the mint.
