Each 2021-W 1 oz Burnished Silver American Eagle available in this Silver.com listing comes with a Mint State 70 certification. Coins with an MS70 certification exhibit full, original mint luster and present with no detracting flaws of any kind on the designs or surface areas. These coins also come with Early Release labels, an indicator that the coins were received by the NGC for grading within 30 days of the original release date from the US Mint.
Burnished Silver Eagles undergo a special treatment before the coining process. Each pure silver blank is rolled together with others inside of a drum that includes a polishing medium. This creates a clean, matte finish on the blanks. Each one is removed with a gloved hand, one at a time, for striking in the coining press. The US Mint strikes the blank with the die exactly one time and then immediately packages the coin inside of its capsule and box for original distribution.
Walking Liberty features on the obverse side of 2021-W 1 oz Burnished Silver American Eagles. This image of Liberty was created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman and featured on the US half dollar until 1947. In the design, Liberty walks toward the sun as it crests a mountaintop in the distance. The American flag is draped around her figure in the design element.
The heraldic eagle of the United States is found in the reverse design of the 2021-W 1 oz Burnished Silver Eagle. This is the final time this design will appear on Silver Eagles. The image was modified for this series in 1986 by John Mercanti to include a powerful eagle behind the US national shield, with the olive branch of peace and the arrows of war in its talons. There is also a triangular cluster of 13 stars above the bird.
