The coin arrives in a protective plastic slab. The slab is clear, so you can use it to store and show your coin if desired, something you may want to consider, given the coins in this listing have all received MS70 certifications from the NGC for being flawless specimens. This is a first release coin that carries the W mint mark denoting minting at the West Point Mint.

The obverse of this coin is lovely. The 1916 Adolph A. Weinman image of Lady Liberty walking, which many numismatists are likely familiar with, has been cleaned up a bit for this minting. Lady Liberty strides boldly across the field and a sunrise background. One of her arms is outstretched, and she carries the symbolic oak and laurel branches representing strength, hope and glory. The American flag is worn around her shoulders. This version of the image has an AW signature mark that was left off previous coins with the Weinman design. In viewing the original image to create this minting, the original signature mark was found and re-created.

One the reverse of the 2021-W Silver American Eagle Coin, you’ll find another symbol of the United States. It’s the bald eagle, which is shown flying while carrying oak branches in its talons. As this is a Type 2 American Eagle silver coin, the image is the one designed by Emily Damstra in 2020.
