The United States Mint celebrated the 35th anniversary of the Silver Eagles in 2021 with the introduction of a new design element on the reverse. Before retiring the heraldic eagle design for good, the mint issued the design one final time in 2021 on Type 1 coins. The mint then transitioned to the Type 2 design for the second half of the year. One of the issues from the mint in 2021 was a Reverse Proof Silver Eagle 2-Coin Set with one of each type of Silver Eagle designs from 2021. Today, 2021-W 1 oz Reverse Proof Silver American Eagles in near-perfect condition are available to you online from Silver.com.

The Reverse Proof Silver Eagles in the 2-coin set the US Mint issued included two different versions of the Silver Eagle from 2021. In the set, the mint offered a 2021-dated reverse proof with the Type 1 design on the reverse featuring John Mercanti’s heraldic eagle. It also featured a Type 2 coin with the new reverse design from Emily Damstra. While those sets are now sold out at the mint, you can still find the individual specimens in certified condition.
All of these 2021-W 1 oz Reverse Proof Silver American Eagles are available to you in PR69 condition. Coins with this grade are considered near-perfect specimens with full, original mint luster and no more than two minor flaws. Examples of these flaws include only minuscule contact marks or hairlines that must be located outside of the primary focal points of the coin. First Strike specimens are coins the PCGS receives for certification within 30 days of release from the mint.
On the obverse of 2021 Reverse Proof Silver Eagles is an effigy of Walking Liberty. Created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman, this left-profile image of Liberty depicts her full-length figure walking toward the sun with her right hand extended and her left carrying the branches of oak and laurel.
The reverse side of the 2021-W Reverse Proof Silver American Eagles features the original design from John Mercanti. This image of the heraldic eagle graced the coins of the Silver Eagle Series from 1986 to early 2021. It features a bald eagle in front-facing relief with its wings spread as it supports the US national shield while clutching the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace.
