Gold American Eagles from the United States Mint are available annually in four BU weights, as well as four Proof weights and a single Burnished option. The BU Gold Eagles are the best-sellers within the collection and arguably one of the most popular choices is the 1/10 oz gold coin. An affordable option when gold prices rise, the 1/10 oz gold coin is also the smallest in the series. Gold Eagles debuted at the United States Mint in 1986. The series immediately offered 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz gold coins in its coveted BU Series. That same year saw the introduction of a 1 oz Proof gold coin, but it would be two more years before the three fractional-ounce gold coins were available.
The 1987 release of Proof Gold Eagles introduced the 1/2 oz weight, while the 1/4 oz and 1/10 oz coins debuted in 1988. The last coin to join the series was the 1 oz Burnished coin, introduced in 2006 for the 20th anniversary of the series. Last year, in 2021, the US Mint introduced a new reverse design element for the first time in the history of the series. This was done halfway through the year for the 35th anniversary.
The obverse of 2022 Gold American Eagles depicts the vision of Lady Liberty. Designed in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, this visual first appeared on the Gold $20 Double Eagle and was used on that coin until 1933.
On the reverse side of 2022 1/10 oz Gold Eagles is a new vision of the American bald eagle. Created in 2020 by Jennie Norris, this depiction shows the head of the bald eagle in left-profile relief with intricate details in the presentation of its physical characteristics.
These 2022 1/10 oz Gold American Eagles are available to you for purchase in perfect condition. The Mint State 70 grade assigned to the coins means that each one showcases full, original mint luster with no detractions. The First Day of Issue label is for coins received for certification within 24 hours of release from the US Mint.
