The Gold Eagles from the United States Mint come in four weights each year. The 1 oz gold coin is considered by many to be the main option, but the fractional-ounce coins offer the opportunity to purchase gold in varying volumes as the price of gold ebbs and flows. When prices are high, the 1/10 oz gold coin tends to perform well among investors. Today, 2022 1/10 oz Gold American Eagles are available to you online at Silver.com.

Coin Highlights:

  • Available to ship to you in individual plastic flips or acrylic tubes of 50 coins!
  • 37th issue of Gold American Eagles!
  • Stunning new bald eagle design!
  • Consists of One-Tenth Troy ounce of actual gold content.
  • The face value of $5 (USD) is fully backed by the US government.
  • On the obverse is the iconic Liberty design.
  • The reverse field of the coin has an American bald eagle.

The mintage figures of the coins in the Gold American Eagle Series have varied over the course of time. As demand for gold and prices ebb and flow, so too does interest in the various weights in the Gold Eagle Series. Typically, it is either the 1 oz gold coin or the 1/10 oz gold coin that generates the most interest in a given year. The 1/10 oz coin first outsold the 1 oz gold coin in 1996, and then did so in each year between 1999 and 2004. It did so again in 2006, and has outsold the 1 oz coin annually since 2015.

All of the 2022 1/10 oz Gold American Eagles listed here come in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The individual coins in this weight come in individual plastic flips, while multiples of 50 are housed in acrylic tubes.

On the obverse of 2022 Gold American Eagles is an image of Lady Liberty. Created for the United States Mint in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, this visual shows Liberty in front-facing relief as she walks forward with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left hand. Her gown and hair flow freely in the breeze as she marches along, with sun rays at her back and a ring of stars around the design element.

The reverse side of 2022 1/10 oz Gold Eagles features a depiction of the American bald eagle. This left-profile bust shows the head of the bald eagle with incredible detail. The new design for the Gold Eagle Series, this effigy of the eagle debuted in mid-2021 and marks its first full-year issue in 2022. The design was created by Jennie Norris in 2020.
