Polar bears are instantly recognizable thanks to their massive size and stunning white fur. However, if you look closely, you’ll find these marine mammals are not actually white. Rather, they have black skin with translucent fur that reflects light from the sun as it bounces off the ice and snow. This creates the illusion that the bears are white. It also allows these majestic creatures to stay warm in the arctic climate.

Queen Elizabeth II is featured on the obverse of 2022 1/10 oz Gold The Majestic Polar Bear Coins. In this portrait, Her Majesty is in right-profile relief and, unlike other effigies of the Queen, is shown without a crown. This design was completed by Susanna Blunt for the Royal Canadian Mint in 2003. The Queen’s name and the coin’s denomination are inscribed along the obverse rim.

A polar bear is depicted on the reverse field of 2022 Gold Canadian The Majestic Polar Bear Coins. In this image we see the bear standing atop an ice cap with its head turned in the other direction. The background consists of a radial decoration and a paw print privy mark. The purity, weight, year, and country of origin are inscribed on the edges.
