Introduced in 1967, the Gold Krugerrand was once the most popular gold coin in the world. Today, it remains a relevant gold bullion series for investors. The 1 oz gold remains the most popular, but the series does offer three fractional-ounce options for investors. The smallest coin in the series is the 1/10 oz Gold Krugerrand. Today, 2022 1/10 oz Gold South African Krugerrands are available to you online at Silver.com.

Coin Highlights:

  • Available to ship to you in protective flips or plastic tubes of 50 coins!
  • 56th date for the Gold Krugerrand and 43rd coin in the 1/10 oz gold series!
  • Consists of One-Tenth Troy ounce of actual gold content in BU condition.
  • The obverse depicts Paul Kruger.
  • On the reverse is an image of the Springbok antelope.

The 1/10 oz Gold Krugerrand was introduced by the South African Mint and the Rand Refinery in 1980. The 1980 release came with the first-ever 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz gold coins. The highest mintages among these fractional-ounce coins all came during the span of 1980-1985, with the 1/10 oz gold coin proving the most popular among the three and the only coin to ever surpass the 1 oz gold coin in mintage.

All of the 2022 1/10 oz Gold South African Krugerrands listed here come with individual or bulk packaging. All individual coins will ship in protective flips, while multiples of 50 coins are offered in plastic tubes of 50 coins. Each coin comes in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.

The obverse of 2022 Gold South African Krugerrands comes with a portrait of Paul Kruger. A Boer statesman and military leader, Kruger was part of the triumvirate that ruled South Africa after the First Boer War and eventually became a four-term president for the South African Republic. He served as president from 1883 to 1900.

On the reverse field of the 2022 1/10 oz Gold Krugerrand is a depiction of the Springbok antelope. The Springbok is a medium-sized member of the antelope family and is native to southern and southwestern Africa. The antelope is shown here in right-profile relief.

The designs on the Gold South African Krugerrands come from Otto Schultz and Coert Steynberg. Each design was originally featured on circulation coinage in South Africa. Schultz’s portrait of Kruger was created in 1892 and used on gold South African Pounds. Steynberg’s version of the Springbok was featured on five shillings coins in two stages between 1947 and 1959, and on a 50-cent coin from 1961 to 1964.
