  • Mintage is unlimited in 2022!
  • Consists of One-Half Gram, or .01607 Troy ounces, of .9999 fine gold.
  • Issued a face value of $2 (AUD) by Australia.
  • The obverse side features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
  • On the reverse field is an image of a kangaroo.

The kangaroo is the most recognizable symbol of Australia. While the koala is another popular marsupial from the Australian continent, the kangaroo is the most recognizable as it was one of the first unique species discovered by outsiders on the Australian continent and has long played a role in the survival of indigenous Aboriginals.

Today, kangaroos are found in countless symbols across the public and private sectors in Australia. Although the kangaroo serves as a mascot for several private companies, it is also most famously featured in the national coat of arms of Australia.

The obverse side of 2022 1/2 Gram Gold Mini Roos comes with an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is shown here in right-profile relief at the age of 89 with the George IV State Diadem Crown. This design was created for the Royal Mint in 2015 by Jody Clark and first came to Perth Mint coinage in 2018. It serves as the sixth-generation portrait of the Queen on Australian coins and is the first since 1966 to include her neckline and shoulders within the portrait field.

On the reverse face of the 2022 Gold Australian Mini Roo, you will find a depiction of a sole kangaroo bounding across the Outback. With small hillocks on the horizon, the kangaroo bounds forward as though it is about to bound off the coin.

These 2022 1/2 Gram Gold Australian Mini Roos are available to you with protective capsules. The coin and capsule are held in a presentation card. The card design includes the name of the species and a photograph of a kangaroo. With an unlimited mintage, the Perth Mint will strike the coins until the end of 2022 when the next design is ready in the series.
