The Gold American Eagles are available to investors each year in four weights. Among those options, you will find three fractional-ounce coins, the largest of which is the 1/2 oz gold coin. Though it is not the most sought-after weight in the series, it is always popular when offered with certification from the NGC or PCGS. Today, 2022 1/2 oz Gold American Eagles are available to you online at Silver.com in certified condition.

Gold American Eagles are made with 22-karat gold content. The US Mint uses a metallic alloy that consists of three different metals. The majority of the coin’s metal content, fittingly, is gold. Each Gold Eagle has 91.67% gold content. The balance of the metallic alloy is 5.33% copper and 3% silver.

All of the 2022 1/2 oz Gold American Eagles in this listing come to you in Mint State 69 condition with protective slabs from the NGC. Coins in this condition are considered near-perfect specimens with full, original mint luster and a maximum of two minor detractions. Acceptable flaws at this grade level include only minuscule contact marks or hairlines. These flaws must be outside the primary focal points of the coin. Early Release designations are for coins received for grading within 30 days of release from the mint.

On the obverse of 2022 Gold American Eagles is a depiction of Liberty. Designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, this full-length figure shows Liberty in front-facing relief as she walks toward you with a torch held aloft in her right hand and an olive branch in her left hand. The background features sun rays emerging on the horizon with a ring of 50 stars around her figure. The U.S. Capitol Building also features in the design field.

The reverse side of the 2022 1/2 oz Gold Eagle features the image of the American bald eagle. Newly released in 2021, this brand-new vision of the bald eagle captures the head of the bird in left-profile relief with incredible layers of detail in the design.
