When the Royal Mint introduced its Britannia bullion coin series in 1987, there were only gold coins available to investors and these options came with four weights: 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz gold. These weights are common across all of the world’s major gold bullion collections and are popular within the Gold Britannia Series. Today, 2022 1/2 oz Gold British Britannias are available to you online from Silver.com.

The British Britannia Series is one of the most robust and diverse bullion programs in the world. The 1987 debut offered the aforementioned four weights in gold. In 1997, the Royal Mint expanded to offer the coins in silver as well, with 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz options. In 2013, both of these collections gained 1/20 oz and 5 oz coins. In 2018, the series expanded again to feature 1 oz and 1/10 oz platinum coins.
All of these 2022 1/2 oz Gold British Britannias come in Brilliant Uncirculated condition from the Royal Mint of England. The coins are available either individually in plastic pouches or in multiples of 20 coins in plastic sheets.
On the obverse of 2022 Gold British Britannias is the fifth-generation portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty is shown here in right-profile relief at the age of 89 as she wears the George IV State Diadem Crown on her head. The design element includes a guilloche pattern in the background. Jody Clark creates this effigy of the Queen in 2015 for the Royal Mint.
The reverse side of 2022 1/2 oz Gold Britannias features the 1987 effigy of Britannia. This design from Philip Nathan shows a powerful image of Britannia as the defender of the realm. She stands at the ready with a trident in one hand and a shield in the other, though she is hopeful for peace as indicated by the olive branch in her left hand.
On the reverse, you will notice the new security elements. These include a micro-text engraving on the inner design rim, a latent security mark, texture lines in the background field, and tincture lines on the shield.
