The Gold Lunar Series III release includes a variety of BU gold coin options that range from this 1/20 oz gold coin up to weights of 1 oz gold and larger. The coins in the gold series all come with the same image of a tiger, a design that was created by Monique Reeves and is shared with the singular 1 oz platinum BU coin in the collection.

The obverse of the 2022 1/20 oz Gold Lunar Tiger features the definitive sixth-generation portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Created in 2015 by Jody Clark, it was first used on an Australian coin in 2018 and is now the only design in use on Australian coinage at Perth Mint. This portrait captures the Queen at the age of 89 as she wears the George IV State Diadem Crown.

On the reverse side of 2022 Gold Australian Lunar Tigers is a depiction of a powerful tiger. The tiger is the largest living member of the Panthera genus today and is, as a result, the largest living wild cat in the world. It is distinguishable among other cats with its orange fur, black stripes, and white underbelly. In this design, it is prowling along a rock ledge as it looks back over its body to see what is behind it.
