Gold Elephants are part of the broader African Wildlife Series from the Bavarian State Mint. While the 1 oz gold coin in this series is part of the foundation of the program, alongside the 1 oz silver coin that dates back to 1999, the series has grown immensely in the decades since. There are now eight gold weights in the series and eight silver weights, as well as a 1 oz platinum coin that was introduced in 2016.

All of the 2022 1/25 oz Gold Somalia Elephants are available to you in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. The 1/25 oz gold coins in this series come with either individual capsules or plastic tubes for multiples of 20. These coins are all a product of the Bavarian State Mint, one of Germany’s leading minting facilities and an entity of the government of the Free State of Bavaria.

On the obverse side of 2022 Gold Somalia Elephants is a depiction of the Somali coat of arms. The design includes a crowned shield at the center with a field of horizontal lines in the background field and a single star at the center of the shield. The shield is flanked by heraldic leopards on either side and comes with both spears and fern leaves beneath the shield.

The reverse field of 2022 1/25 oz Gold Elephants features a new design of the African bush elephant. Created specifically for this year’s release, the design shows a mature African elephant in left-profile relief as it walks along the savanna with its young calf at its side. There is a small flock of birds overhead with trees on the horizon in the distance.
