After celebrating its 35th anniversary in 2021, the Gold Eagles at the United States Mint move into 2022 with the first full-year release of the new bald eagle design from Jennie Norris. The dual release of 2021 is in the rearview mirror and the series is moving forward with only one design on the reverse going into the future. Today, 2022 1/4 oz Gold American Eagles in perfect condition are available to you online at Silver.com.

To celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Gold American Eagles in 2021, the United States Mint debuted a new design element on the reverse of the coins. However, to properly celebrate the 35th anniversary, the US Mint first issued the coins in 2021 with the original design from Miley Busiek and then transitioned to the new design from Jennie Norris, giving each design an appearance on 2021 dated coins. With the original design now completely retired, the Gold Eagles will only feature the Jennie Norris design going forward.

All of the 2022 1/4 oz Gold American Eagles in this listing come to you in Mint State 70 condition with protective slabs. Considered perfect specimens, these Gold Eagles have full, original mint luster and feature no detracting flaws of any kind. The First Strike label available with each coin indicates a specimen that was received for certification within 30 days of release from the mint.

On the obverse of 2022 Gold Eagles is an image of Lady Liberty. This iconic design was first used in 1907 on the Gold $20 Double Eagle and was designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The image shows Liberty’s front-facing figure walking toward you with a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left.

The reverse side of the 2022 1/4 oz Gold American Eagles features a new design of the American bald eagle. Shown here in left-profile relief, the bald eagle’s hooked beak and steely gaze are evident in the design. The most impressive feature may be the details in the layering of the plumage on the bird.
