The game of Quidditch might be foreign to fans of the Harry Potter novels and feature films, but the concept of a team sport played by young children in a school setting is one that any reader or viewer can connect with. This dangerous, yet popular, sport is played by the witches and wizards of Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. One of its central pieces is the Golden Snitch. Now, 2022 1/4 oz Gold Niue Harry Potter Classic Golden Snitch Coins are available to you for purchase online from Silver.com.

Quidditch is an interesting game that was added to the first Harry Potter novel by author J.K. Rowling. She invented the game and its rules from scratch for inclusion in the books. On the surface, the game appears to be a combination of rugby and basketball, with magical twists thrown in for good measure.

Though there is an oval pitch that is grass-covered, very little of the game is contested on the ground on this grass-covered field. Instead, the witches and wizards competing against one another fly around the pitch on their broomsticks attempting to score in one of the three rings at either end of the pitch.

The obverse of the 2022 1/4 oz Gold Harry Potter Classic Golden Snitch Coin comes with an image of Queen Elizabeth II. This right-profile depiction is the fourth of her reign from British currency and was designed in 1998 by Ian Rank-Broadley. The design shows the Queen wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara.

On the reverse side of 2022 1/4 oz Gold Niue Golden Snitch Coins is a depiction of the famous Golden Snitch. Though much of Quidditch is focused on chasers and beaters competing to score goals with the Quaffle, each team has a Seeker whose job is to find and capture the elusive Golden Snitch during gameplay. Capturing the Snitch results in 150 points and an instant win for the team whose Seeker grabs the Snitch.

These 2022 1/4 oz Gold Niue Harry Potter Classic Golden Snitch Coins are available in presentation boxes with a plastic capsule for the coin. The rests in the capsule inside the box on a pop-up stand that allows for an upright display. There is a Certificate of Authenticity included with a unique serial number.
