The obverse design of this bar includes an image of Europa on the back of a bull, which is actually Zeus in disguise. Below the image are the inscriptions for the weight and purity of the coin as well as a serial number to help ensure authenticity. The story of Europa is one that is mentioned numerous times in Greek ancient literature. According to the myth, Zeus desired Europa, so he disguised himself as a bull within her father’s herds. She found the bull to be so tame that she climbed on its back. At that point, the bull runs off across the land and into the sea, swimming to Crete and bringing Europa with him. Legends continue that Europa had three sons for Zeus before marrying a king of Crete who adopted the children. She became a queen and also the namesake of the continent of Europe.

The reverse of the coin includes an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II in the center. Around the portrait are the standard inscriptions, including her name and the name of the country minting the coin. The face value and year of the coin are also included. The portrait itself is the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy created in 1998 for the UK Royal Mint. The UK used this specific image of Her Majesty officially on coins until a new effigy was ordered in 2015, but countries across the world still often use the IRB image on their coins.

The 2022 Silver Tokelau Goddess Europa Coin ships in sealed plastic. This helps protect the coin from any issues during transport.
