The two central characters in The Knight in the Panther’s Skin are Tariel and Avtandil, both courageous and chivalric knights. Much of the narrative is concerned with the quest these two knights embark on in order to rescue Tariel’s true love, Nestan-Darejan. The story culminates in a battle with Kaji the demon king, who holds Nestan captive. The poem was written by Kartvelian author Shota Rustaveli and remains an important part of Georgian culture. In fact, up until the 20th century, a copy of the poem was included in the dowry of every Kartvelian bride.

All 2022 1 oz Antique Silver Tariel Fighting the Wild Beast Coins have been struck in beautiful high relief and include an antique finish. These exquisite coins will make for a great addition to your collection and include a box for display as well as a Certificate of Authenticity.

Queen Elizabeth II is shown on the obverse side of 2022 Antique Silver Niue Tariel Fighting the Wild Beast Coins. This effigy is from 1998 and represents the 4th Generation portrait of Her Majesty used for coinage. It was designed by Ian Rank-Broadley and continues to be used on coins throughout the Commonwealth. Inscriptions include the year, country of origin, weight, and purity. There is also an elaborate Medieval-style design extending around the edge.

Tariel is shown fighting a lion and tiger on the reverse side of these 2022 1 oz Antique Silver Niue Coins. The beasts appear on either side of Tariel, who is shown in the style of a Medieval painting with armor and a sword. This stunning design perfectly captures one of most exciting moments in the poem.
