The most famous creation of famous Disney illustrator and comic book creator Carl Barks, Scrooge McDuck made his first appearance in 1947 as the rich and miserly uncle of Donald Duck. He became a prominent regular in an entire miniature universe of Donald Duck content, an eccentric and colorful take on the wealthy Scotsman (in this case a Scottish duck) who could represent the downsides of outlandish wealth but could also represent positive qualities like thrift, frugality, and resilience. McDuck became surprisingly popular with multiple generations of fans and is celebrated by the New Zealand Mint with the 2022 1 oz Silver Colorized Niue 75th Anniversary Scrooge McDuck Coin, now available from Silver.com.

Coin Highlights:

  • Arrives in a themed display case, nestled inside a protective acrylic capsule!
  • Issued in 2022 by the N.Z. Mint!
  • Limited mintage of 1,947 pieces worldwide in honor of the character’s debut year!
  • Consists of One Troy ounce of .999 fine silver.
  • Face value of $2 (NZD), legal tender of Niue.
  • Comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
  • Obverse side features an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.
  • Reverse side features a full-color portrait of Scrooge McDuck.

The 2022 Colorized Niue Silver 75th Anniversary Scrooge McDuck Coin showcases the character in vivid full-color art against a mirror-finish background. It comes in a branded display case nestled inside an acrylic capsule, along with a Certificate of Authenticity that specifies each coin’s unique number in a limited mintage that matches the year of his debut.

Scrooge McDuck originally appeared as an antagonist in a Donald Duck cartoon. The prospect of his becoming an iconic character on the Disney roster was not remotely in view at the time, but he proved to be a character with surprising range and appeal who could show different elements of the entrepreneurial spirit. As such, he quickly outgrew any dependency on the legacy of his namesake character “Ebenezer Scrooge” and went on to helm multiple shows and comics over the decades.

The reverse side of this coin depicts Scrooge McDuck in full color with a wad of cash in hand, set against a backdrop of golden coins and an overflowing treasure chest. It’s all offset against a mirror-finish background, while fine inscriptions at the coin’s rim specify its silver content and verify Disney’s copyright.

The obverse side features an official effigy of the late Queen Elizabeth II, verifying it as legal tender. This is accompanied by the inscriptions “ELIZABETH II,” “NIUE,” “TWO DOLLARS,” and “2022.”

Where does your spot price come from?

We use a live, up-to-the-second spot price feed supplied by Xignite.com, a worldwide leader in the data supply market.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
