It wasn’t until 1982 that the mint enhanced the fineness of the gold in the coins and began to introduced fractional-ounce coins. Today, the Gold Maple Leaf is a leading .9999 fine gold coin.

The back, white side of the CertiCard has an NFC Scan symbol letting you know where to tap your smartphone when using the MintID app to authenticate your coin.
The MintID app is free to use and does not require any personal, sensitive information being shared in the app. With the NFC enabled on your smartphone and the MintID app open, follow the prompts to tap the chip on the back of the card.
