The coins of the Silver Rwandan Wildlife African Ounce Series are available each year with a new reverse design. Each new design features a different animal from the African wilderness. The coins are only available in 1 oz silver and the mint offers both BU and proof options. For the 15th release of the series, the collection once again takes to the skies above Africa.
The obverse of 2022 Proof Silver Rwandan Pelican Coins features an image of the Rwandan coat of arms. This seal includes a cogwheel at the very center with a traditional basket imposed over it. The cogwheel and basket are flanked immediately by branches of sorghum and coffee, with the shields of warriors surrounding this. The sun rises above the entire design.
On the reverse side of the 2022 1 oz Proof Silver Pelican coin is a depiction of the African continent and pelicans. The outline of the African continent has been a fixture on the reverse of the coins in this series since its 2008 start. In the lower-left field, there are two pelicans that offer a unique element for the 2022 release. Today, there are eight living species of pelicans in the world.
