There’s no better way to give the gift of silver than by purchasing the Silver American Eagle from the United States Mint. Available annually as of 1986, the Silver Eagle is the best-selling silver coin in the world and bears iconic images of America. Walking Liberty has always graced the obverse of the coins and a new bald eagle design was recently introduced in 2021. Today, 2022 1 oz Silver American Eagles in special American Flag presentation cards are available to you online at Silver.com.

Coin Highlights:

  • Available to ship to you in blue presentation cards!
  • American Flag design theme!
  • 37th year of release for the Silver American Eagles!
  • Consists of One Troy ounce of .999 fine silver.
  • The face value of $1 (USD) is fully backed by the US government.
  • On the obverse is Walking Liberty.
  • The reverse features an American bald eagle in flight.

In 2021, the United States Mint marked the 35th anniversary of the Silver American Eagles with the first-ever design change in the history of the series. The new design was introduced midway through the year, giving the collection one final release with the original design from John Mercanti on the reverse before switching to the new bald eagle design midway through the year.

All of the 2022 1 oz Silver American Eagles offered here come with special occasion cards. These coins are individually sealed in blue, American Flag-themed design cards. There is a representation of the US flag at the top of the card’s front face, while the back face of the card has a blue field with the identifying hallmarks of the coin.

On the obverse of 2022 Silver American Eagles is an effigy of Liberty. Known as Walking Liberty, this effigy of the female figure was created by Adolph A. Weinman based on the historic French coin design known as The Sower. Liberty walks through the design field in left-profile relief with the American flag draped around her figure, her right hand outstretched, and her left carrying branches of oak and laurel.

The reverse side of the 2022 1 oz Silver Eagle comes with an image of the American bald eagle. Designed by Emily Damstra, the design shows a bald eagle with its wings flexed behind its frame as it flies through the sky with an oak branch in its talons.
