Silver Eagles from the United States Mint come in three varieties each year. From the first date of issue in 1986, the US Mint offered BU and Proof versions of the coin. For the 20th anniversary in 2006, the mint introduced a Burnished version of the coin as an alternative collector piece. Each year, you can also find uniquely enhanced versions of the BU coin from third-party dealers. Today, 2022 1 oz Silver American Eagles are available to you online at Silver.com.

A staple of the Silver American Eagle Series is the use of just 1 oz silver coins for investors and collectors. BU Silver Eagles move millions of units each year, with coins available individually and in bulk. Proof Silver Eagles and Burnished Silver Eagles offer two different finishes that provide something visually stunning for collectors. When it comes to the BU Silver Eagle, some third-party dealers also enhance the visual beauty of the coins with special finishes after the coins leave the US Mint.
All of the 2022 1 oz Silver American Eagles available here come in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and are packaged inside protective capsules. These particular specimens come with what is known as a gilded layer. This means that a third-party dealer has applied a thin application of additional material to select design elements. In the case of these coins, that application was 24-karat gold and it is limited to the surface area on the obverse design element only.
On the obverse side of 2022 Silver American Eagles, you will find the iconic image of Lady Liberty. Created in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman, this visual first appeared on American coinage in 1916 and remained on the US half dollar through 1947. It shows Liberty’s full-length figure in left-profile relief as she walks toward the sun rising over a mountain in the distance. It is the image of Liberty, the horizon, and the sun that have been finished with the gilded design.
The reverse side of the 2022 1 oz Silver Eagle comes with the 2020 design from Emily Damstra that reimagines the bald eagle for the series. In this design, the eagle swoops into view with its wings flapped and its talons clutching an oak branch.
