After a split release in 2021 to mark the end of the original design and the debut of the new design, 2022 is all about the new bald eagle design from Emily Damstra. The only design you will find on the reverse of the 2022 Silver Eagles is the effigy of a bald eagle in flight that debuted midway through the 35th-anniversary release last year. Now, 2022 1 oz Silver American Eagles are available to you for purchase online at Silver.com in near-perfect condition.

From 1986 to 2021, the US Mint issued its popular Silver Eagles with the image of the heraldic eagle on the reverse. One of the first American coin designs ever created for the nation following independence, the heraldic eagle has been modified countless times for American currency. John Mercanti’s 1986 design was the latest modification and it graced the Silver Eagle until June 2021.
Starting in July 2021, the new bald eagle design capturing the bird in flight was released on the coins. Designed by Emily Damstra, this new design now features alone in the series starting in 2022 and takes the series forward into the future.
The obverse of 2022 1 oz Silver American Eagles continues to feature the beautiful Walking Liberty design from Adolph A. Weinman. Widely believed to have been inspired by the Le Semeuse design from Oscar Roty and the French Franc of 1897, it shows Liberty in left-profile relief wearing a Phrygian cap as she walks along draped in the American flag.
On the reverse side of the 2022 Silver American Eagle is a new image of the American bald eagle. A more life-like interpretation of the bird, this design shows the bald eagle soaring through the sky with flexed wings and an oak branch in its talons.
These 2022 1 oz Silver American Eagles are near-perfect specimens. Mint State 69 coins showcase full, original mint luster and no more than two minor detracting flaws. Examples of acceptable flaws include only minuscule contact marks or hairlines and these must be outside the primary focal points of the coin. The included Early Release label is for specimens received for grading within 30 days of the original release.
