2022 is the first year in which the United States Mint will issue the Silver Eagle with only the new design element on the reverse. 2021 saw a split release with the original design on the reverse from January to June, and the new bald eagle image from Emily Damstra on the reverse from July through the end of the year. Now, 2022 1 oz Silver American Eagles are available to you for purchase online from Silver.com.

Coin Highlights:

  • Coins ship to you inside protective flips, plastic tubes of 20, or mint-sealed Monster Boxes of 500!
  • 37th issue of Silver American Eagles!
  • Features the beautiful new reverse visual from Emily Damstra!
  • Consists of One Troy ounce of .999 fine silver in BU condition.
  • Issued a face value of $1 (USD) by the United States.
  • Obverse depicts Walking Liberty.
  • Reverse features the bald eagle in flight.
  • Comes with the anti-counterfeiting reeded edge variation.
  • Please bear in mind the US Mint black tape on the tubes of coins has shown to come loose at times during transit.

In 2021, the US Mint marked the 35th anniversary of the Silver American Eagle with the introduction of a new reverse design element. However, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and surging demand for silver, the US Mint had to start the 2021 production cycle with its existing dies featuring the original heraldic eagle design.

From January to June 2021, the Silver Eagle was struck with the heraldic eagle design on the reverse. In July, the US Mint briefly paused production to replace the dies in use in its coining presses so it could begin to produce 2021 Silver Eagles with the new reverse design. Emily Damstra’s image of the bald eagle is now the only reverse visual element in the series starting with the 2022 release of the coins.

Obverse visuals on 2022 1 oz Silver American Eagles include the historic Walking Liberty portrait. Developed in 1916 by Adolph A. Weinman, this vision of Liberty in left-profile relief first featured on US coins with the 1916 Half Dollar and featured on that denomination until 1947.

Reverse images on the 2022 Silver American Eagle include the all-new bald eagle design. Created in 2020 by Emily Damstra, it debuted on the Silver Eagle in mid-2021 and shows a bald eagle swooping down into view as its flexes its wings behind its back. The bird is shown with a large oak branch in its talons, a symbol of power and strength.

These 2022 1 oz Silver American Eagles are available to you at Silver.com for individual and bulk purchases. Single coins will ship in plastic flips, with multiples of 20 housed in plastic tubes sealed with black tape by the mint. Multiples of 500 coins come in a Monster Box that holds a total of 25 individual tubes. When you’re looking to buy Silver Eagles in bulk, you also have the option of purchasing bulk quantities directly through our 2022 Silver Eagles Tube and 2022 Silver Eagles Monster Box listings. We’d like to call your attention to the fact that the new black tape from the US Mint has shown to come loose on some tubes during transit.

We use a live, up-to-the-second spot price feed supplied by Xignite.com, a worldwide leader in the data supply market.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
