In 2018, Perth Mint introduced the Australian Rectangular Dragon Series. These silver bullion pieces look a lot like a standard 1 oz silver ingot, with flat surfaces, rounded corners, and a rectangular shape. The intricate designs are on par with programs like those from PAMP Suisse, such as the Fortuna Series. There is one big difference, however. With a legal tender face value of $1 (AUD), these silver bullion pieces are the world’s first rectangular, legal tender coins.
All of the 2022 1 oz Silver Australian Rectangular Dragons in this listing come with plastic flips for individual pieces. Multiples of the coins arrive in protective tubes of 20 coins or Monster Boxes of 200 cons. The Monster Box holds a total of 10 individual 20-coin tubes. All of the coins are available in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.
On the obverse side of 2022 Silver Rectangular Dragon Coins is a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Created in 2015 by Jody Clark, this sixth-generation Australian portrait was initially created in 2015 for the Royal Mint. It began to appear on Australian coins in 2018 and is now the preferred portrait of the Queen on Perth Mint coinage.
The reverse field of the 2022 1 oz Silver Rectangular Dragon features a new image of the Chinese dragon. Always captured as a snake-like creature with scales covering its body and four legs, the Chinese dragon is a crucial symbol in Chinese culture. This design shows the coiled body of the beast as it slithers downward along the face of the coin toward the flaming pearl in the lower-right corner.
