The Silver Niue Hawksbill Turtle Coin is one of the world’s most famous silver coins. Introduced in 2010, it is also one of the youngest annual-issue silver bullion coins out there. The series started as an issue for Fiji, but has been released on behalf of Niue from 2014. Now, 2022 1 oz Silver New Zealand $2 Niue Hawksbill Turtle Coins are available to you for purchase online at Silver.com.

Coin Highlights:

  • Coins ship to you in protective plastic flips or acrylic tubes of 25 coins!
  • Ninth year for the Silver Niue Hawksbill Turtles!
  • Consists of One Troy ounce of .999 fine silver in BU condition.
  • Issued a face value of $2 by Niue.
  • The obverse comes with a depiction of Queen Elizabeth II.
  • On the reverse is the image of a hawksbill turtle.

In 2010, the New Zealand Mint introduced the Hawksbill Turtle coin under a different name and for a different nation. From 2010 to 2013, the silver coins were known as the Fiji Taku. The reverse design was the same as it is now, but with an inscription of TAKU on this face of the coin rather than the current inscription of TURTLE. The use of Taku in the title reflected the native Fijian term for the hawksbill turtle.

In 2014, the New Zealand Mint began issuing the silver bullion coins in this series for Niue instead. The design on the reverse remained the same, with the exception of the aforementioned text inscription. The obverse side of the coin reverted from the 2013 use of the Fijian coat of arms to the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II that had been used on the Fiji version from 2010 to 2012.

The obverse of the new 2022 Silver New Zealand $2 Niue Hawksbill Turtle Coin comes with an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. The longest-reigning monarch in England, Her Majesty is the head of the Commonwealth and has been on the throne since 1952.

On the reverse side of 2022 1 oz Silver $2 Niue Hawksbill Turtles is an image of the hawksbill turtle. In this design, the turtle is shown beneath the waves as it swims through warm, tropical waters. The design field includes bubbles to enhance the concept that the turtle is under the water.

These 2022 1 oz Silver New Zealand $2 Niue Hawksbill Turtle Coins are available individually in plastic flips or by multiples of 25 in acrylic tubes. All of the coins available here are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition.
