The elite skills and the status in society that samurai warriors eventually gained were the result of predecessors in the militaries of feudal Japan during the 10th, 11th, and 12th centuries. The samurai emerged as a distinctive class of military warriors during the Kamakura shogunate that came to power around 1185. Samurai would exist as a ruling class of military warriors through 1876, building a history that stretched nearly 700 years.

On the obverse of 2022 Silver Chibi Warriors of the World Samurai Shaped Coins is an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. England’s longest-reigning monarch, Elizabeth II has been on the throne since 1952 and this is her fourth-generation portrait from the Royal Mint. Widely used throughout the coins of Commonwealth Nations, this effigy of the Queen captures her figure in right-profile relief.
The reverse side of the 2022 1 oz Niue Warriors of the World Samurai Shaped Coins depicts a stoic, fearless samurai warrior. Clad in red armor with accents of black and gold, the warrior stares forward at the viewer. A typical Chibi caricature, this design shows the samurai warrior with an oversized head and small body with disproportionate limbs.
