While the BU Silver Panda has become the dominant face of the Chinese Panda Series in the silver bullion market, the program has its roots in proof coinage as the first five issues of the series were only available in proof. To mark the 40th anniversary of the broader Chinese Panda bullion series, the Chinese Mint offers all of its 2022 coins with a special privy mark to celebrate. Today, 2022 150 Gram Proof Silver Chinese Pandas are available to you online at Silver.com.

Like all other coins in the Chinese Panda collection, the Proof Silver Pandas were impacted by the 2016 shift from Troy ounce measurements to Grams for the weights of the coins. Previously, the Proof Silver Pandas had largely been issued as 1 Kilogram and 5 Troy oz options. While the 1 Kilo coin remains the same, the 5 Troy ounce coin is now available as the 150 Gram coin, bringing with it a slight decrease in the silver weight of the coin to 4.8223 Troy ounce overall.

All of these 2022 150 Gram Proof Silver Chinese Pandas are beautiful proof specimens. The typical proof coin comes with frosted design elements over mirrored fields. The Chinese Mint, like others, chooses the best silver blanks during coining and polishes them to help create this visual finish. Each 2022 Proof Silver Panda is packaged in a presentation box and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

On the obverse of 2022 Proof Silver Chinese Pandas, you will find the image of two Giant Pandas enjoying a playful outing in the snow. These two pandas are sliding down a snowy hill. As one slides on its stomach headfirst, the other slides on its back feet first with all of its paws in the air. This side of the coins includes a special privy mark for the 40th anniversary. This privy has the digits 40 with a panda emerging from the zero.

The reverse side of the 2022 150 Gram Proof Silver Panda features the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests. Built between 1406 and 1420, this building is the primary structure in the Temple of Heaven Complex and features on the reverse of Silver Pandas each year, as well as the obverse of the Gold Pandas each year.
