In 1847, coin designer William Wyon and artist William Dyce collaborated to produce one of the most famous coins in history. Known as The Gothic Crown, the coin was produced as a celebration of Queen Victoria’s tenth year upon the throne. The coin featured both a new portrait of the Queen and a beautiful cruciform design on the reverse. In honor of this splendid historical specimen, East India Company is releasing a brand-new recreation of the Gothic Crown coin. Now, 2022 2 oz Proof Gold St. Helena Gothic Crown Coins are available to you for purchase online from Silver.com.

Coin Highlights:

  • Coins ship to you in a display case and include a Certificate of Authenticity!
  • Brand-new proof coin in the Masterpiece Collection!
  • Mintage limited to 125 coins only!
  • Includes an information booklet.
  • Consists of 2 Troy oz of .9999 fine gold.
  • Issued a face value of Five Pounds from the St. Helena government.
  • The obverse shows Queen Elizabeth II.
  • On the reverse side is The Gothic Crown design.

William Wyon is one of the most renowned designers to have ever lived, in part because of his Young Head portrait of Queen Victoria. His greatest achievement though may have been the Gothic Crown coin he created in collaboration with Scottish artist William Dyce. Commissioned by the Queen, this coin depicted a new portrait by Wyon and a beautiful cruciform image designed by Dyce. This ornate, highly detailed artwork came at the pinnacle of the neo-Gothic movement and was no doubt inspired by the extravagant decorative trends of the era.

Queen Elizabeth II is depicted on the obverse side of 2022 Gold St. Helena Gothic Crown Coins. Her Majesty is shown facing right with the Royal Diamond Diadem crown she wore for her coronation. This portrait comes from Royal Mint designer Jody Clark. At 33, he was the youngest designer to have a portrait selected for British coinage. Along the rim are the words Elizabeth II, D G Regina F D, St. Helena, Five Pounds.

The famous cruciform shield design is featured on the reverse of 2022 2 oz Proof Gold St. Helena Gothic Crown Coins. Each shield is inspired by the Royal coat of arms with the original emblems featured on each one. In the center of the coin is the Order of the Garter arms, and the backdrop consists of the national flowers of Britain. Inscriptions in Latin are seen along the coin’s edges.

All 2022 St. Helena Gothic Crown Coins arrive in a beautiful presentation case and include a Certificate of Authenticity. Also included is a booklet with information about this historical specimen.

We use a live, up-to-the-second spot price feed supplied by Xignite.com, a worldwide leader in the data supply market.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
