In 2017, one of the first Silver Krugerrands issued by the South African Mint and the Rand Refinery was the Proof Silver Krugerrand. The coin issued that year was a 1 oz proof, with the 2 oz proof offered first issued in 2020. Both coins have proven immensely popular with collectors and are available each year alongside the 1 oz BU version of the coin that has been issued since 2018.

All of the 2022 2 oz Proof Silver South African Krugerrands offered here are individually packaged. The 2 oz proof silver coins come in presentation displays with a Certificate of Authenticity included in the packaging. The proof coins boast frosted design elements overlaying mirrored fields.

On the obverse of 2022 2 oz Proof Silver Krugerrands is a depiction of Paul Kruger. A former Boer statesman, Kruger was the first president elected to lead the South African Republic formed in the late 19th century. This left-profile relief is surrounded by inscriptions of the nation of issue marked in both Afrikaans and English.

The reverse face of 2022 Proof Silver South African Krugerrands comes with an image of the Springbok antelope. The official symbol of the modern Republic of South Africa, this creature is native to the plains of southern Africa.
