Fifty years after the first Pride parade in London in 1972, Pride has grown from a movement of marginalized people fighting persecution into a bright and bold celebration of progress in the struggle for equal rights. As the United Kingdom rings in the 50th Anniversary of Pride, there are 150 events across the nation and an annual attendance figure of some 1.5 million people at London Pride, one of the largest and most diverse events of its kind in the world. The Royal Mint’s commemoration of this milestone is also the first British coin ever to specifically honor the LGBTQ+ community: the 2022 8 Gram Silver Proof British 50 Years of Pride Coin.

Coin Highlights:

  • Comes in a deluxe presentation case with a Certificate of Authenticity!
  • Issued in 2022 by the Royal Mint!
  • Limited mintage of just 4955 coins worldwide!
  • Consists of 8 grams (1/4 Troy oz) of .999 Fine Silver.
  • Face value of 50 pence, legal tender of the UK.
  • The obverse side features an effigy of Elizabeth II.
  • The reverse side features colorized Pride rainbow designs.

The 2022 Proof British Silver 50 Years of Pride Coin features a distinctive seven-sided design with artwork by Dominique Holmes that presents Pride messages set against brilliant, proof-quality mirrored backgrounds. It comes in a beautiful presentation case along with a Certificate of Authenticity, and each shipment is fully insured by Silver.com.

The roots of Pride go back ultimately to a struggle of the LGBTQ+ community against official repression centered around New York’s Stonewall Inn in 1969, an event that would prove to be a symbolic watershed that inspired the gay community all around the world. Pride events soon began appearing in London and across the UK, and although the struggles and dangers the organizers and their communities faced were very real, so too was their undeniable record of achievements. Those achievements made Pride possible as we know it today: a positive celebration of the advancement of equal rights.

The reverse side of this coin is just such a celebration: it bears five rainbows with the colors of the original rainbow flag of Pride, inscribed with the words “PRIDE,” “PROTEST,” “UNITY,” “VISIBILITY” and “EQUALITY.” Below this is a five-colored chevron designed by Daniel Quasar to symbolize progress and inclusion for marginalized LGBTQ+ communities of color. Ornamental scrollwork and the inscription “50” above complete the design.

An effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II appears on the coin’s obverse side. This is framed by the inscriptions “50 PENCE,” “2022,” “ELIZABETH II,” and “D.G. REG. F.D.”

We also never have access to your credit/debit card details, as they are securely communicated directly to the payment processor (Authorize.net) and never retained by Silver.com. For this reason, we also don't process credit/debit card orders over the phone, as it is the least secure way to process those transactions.

In addition, all VISA and MasterCard orders undergo an additional step of user authentication - the respective Verified by VISA or MasterCard SecureCode programs. Upon completing checkout with a VISA or MasterCard credit/debit card, you may be promoted for additional details to confirm your identity and protect our customers against credit card fraud.

We are required to collect sales tax in certain states. You can review your states sales tax policy here: https://www.silver.com/taxes. You should always consult with a tax adviser for specific advice in your area.

Where does your spot price come from?

We use a live, up-to-the-second spot price feed supplied by Xignite.com, a worldwide leader in the data supply market.

Are your products actually in stock?

Yes. We are one of the few bullion dealers in the industry who only deems products "in stock" when we have them on-hand and ready to ship immediately. In the instance of a presale item, we denote that the product is on presale and the estimated shipping date. While we make the best efforts to hit presale dates, the dates are only estimates, given we cannot control mint production issues and/or carrier dealyes.

Why are multiple prices listed?

We offer a 4% discount to "cash" paying customers - with paper check, bank wire, and bitcoin payments being defined as cash. On many products, we are also able to offer volume discounts to customers purchasing large quantities of the same item. All volume pricing is laid out in the chart on the product's description page, as well as in the cart.

When do I lock in my price?

All prices are locked in at the time of purchase. Credit/debit card, PayPal, BitCoin, Ethereum, and Ripple orders are paid at the time of checkout, while paper check and bank wire orders require a credit/debit card on file to lock in your pricing while we await your payment. Please note, paper check and bank wire orders will NOT result in a charge to your card - we simple maintain the card on file while we await full payment by your selected payment method.

Do you ship internationally?

We currently only ship to addresses in the United States, including APOs.
